SAFA officials banned by FIFA

The SA Football Association  welcomed sanctions imposed on four former South African football officials regarding the international friendly matches played by Bafana Bafana ahead of the 2010 football  FIFA World Cup.

The investigation, initiated in November 2014 against SAFA officials, was conducted by Dr Cornel Borbely of FIFA's Ethics Committee, in collaboration with FIFA's Security Division.

Football's World Governing body FIFA announced on Monday that the former head of SA referees Lindile ‘Ace’ Kika has been banned from all football-related activities for six years.

Former SAFA CEO Leslie Sedibe was banned for five years from all football-related activities and also received a fine.

Furthermore, former SAFA employees Adeel Carelse and Steve Goddard were also found guilty of corrupt activities and each received a ban of two years.

SAFA says in a statement that its pleased to see the matter ultimately reaching this stage after reporting it to FIFA almost four years ago.
