South Africa's gold medal winning swimmers - Chad le Clos and Cameron van der Berg are home.
They touched down at OR Tambo International airport this morning and were received by thousands of excited well wishers in the international arrivals hall.
Both swimmers were clearly overwhelmed by the occasion.
Van der Berg said the gold medal in the 100 metre breastroke meant more to him than the world record - as he and Chad would be able to call themselves Olympic Champions for the next four years.
Le Clos, who also displayed his Olympic silver medal, wished the women in the audience well on women's day.
He said the biggest honor for him was beating his child hood hero Michael Phelps in the 200 metre butterfly final.
Le Clos said Phelps had told him it was now up to him to fly the flag in the butterfly discipline - now that the great American has retired from the sport.
