Fifa and UEFA have suspended all Russian teams, whether national or club teams, from all competitions until further notice.
The presidents of both associations said they hoped that the situation in Ukraine would improve significantly so that football can once again be a vector for unity and peace.
In a brief statement, FIFA said the decisions were adopted on Monday by the Bureau of the FIFA Council and the Executive Committee of UEFA, respectively, the highest decision-making bodies of both institutions on such urgent matters.
