Proteas
A solid partnership between David Miller and Aiden Markram set up the Proteas for a five-wicket victory against India at a chilly Perth Stadium on Sunday.
Markram made 52 off 41 balls before losing his wicket while Miller saw the Proteas home with a knock of 59 off 46 balls which also included three sixes and four fours.
India won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch that suited the fast bowlers and Lungi Ngidi in particular, who was also named Man of the Match.
He tore through the Indian line-up, claiming four wickets for 29 runs.
The Proteas batting card was a mixed bag with Quinton de Kock losing his wicket for just 1 run, while Captain Temba Bavuma mustered 10 runs before he edged one to wicketkeeper, Dinesh Karthik.
Riley Rossouw was trapped LBW off the bowling of Arshdeep Singh, while Tristan Stubbs made six and Wayne Parnell, who also took three wickets for 15 runs, was not out with two runs at the end.
Speaking after the match Bavuma paid tribute to Miller and Markram, saying to come through in pressure situations will do a lot to boost their confidence going forward.
The win sees South Africa move to the top of the ICC World Cup table.
