An opening partnership of 132 between Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan saw the Proteas through to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over India at Boland Park in a sweltering Paarl on Friday.
The win means the final ODi on Sunday will be a dead-rubber as the Proteas complete a clean-sweep in the ODI and test series.
Speaking post-match on Supersport, ODI Captain Temba Bavuma praised a “real team effort.”
He said as a team they had a lot of self-belief and confidence in their ability.
Bavuma said no one had faith in the team to win the test series, but the series victory gave them great motivation.
Quinton de Kock, with 78, said he was glad to be back after a short break after becoming a father.
“The more I batted, the more I felt my rhythm was coming back. I had a good partnership and relationship with Janneman Malan,” he said.
Bavuma made 35 before Aiden Markram with 35 and Rassie van der Dussen (37), knocked off the winning runs with the Proteas finishing on 288 for 3 in 48.1 overs.
India made 287 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs, with Tabraiz Shamsi taking two wickets while the rest of the bowlers picked up one each.
