The Proteas beat India by five wickets on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method at a rain-affected second T20I at Dafabet St George’s Park in Gqeberha on Tuesday.

South Africa took a 1-nil lead in the three-match series after the first T20I was washed out in Durban.

Reeza Hendricks led the charge in the run chase after India made 180/7 off 19.3 overs before rain brought a premature end to the innings, leaving South Africa to chase down a revised target of 152.

Matthew Breetzke made 16 before he was unfortunately run out following a mix-up with Hendricks.  Aiden Markram scored 30 runs off 17 balls, while David Miller contributed 17 and Tristan Stubbs added 14.

Andile Pehlukwayo clubbed 10 runs off four balls including the winning runs to give South Africa the victory.

Tabraiz Shamsi was named Player of the Match taking one wicket for 18 runs in four overs, while Gerald Coetzee took 3/32.

Captain Aiden Markram said it was nice to get the win after the disappointment of Durban where a good crowd turned out.

The next T20I is in Johannesburg on Thursday.
