World Cup-winning skipper Ricky Ponting says he intends to continue playing Test cricket for Australia despite being told he has no future in the national one-day team.
Ponting said he had been informed by selectors that he did not fit into their future plans for the one-day team, but despite speculation about his future, stressed that he would not be retiring from the five-day game.
Ponting is the second leading run-getter behind Sachin Tendulkar in a 17-year odi career.
However, after amassing just 18 runs in 5 knocks in the on-going tri-series, Aussie selectors dropped him yesterday and recalled all-rounder Shane Watson for Australia's next two matches.
