Philip Amm dies of natural causes

Former Eastern Province cricketer Philip Amm has died at the age of 51.

His body was found at his home near the Stone Crescent Hotel outside Grahamstown on Thursday afternoon. It appears that he died of natural causes

Police captain Mali Govender told AlgoaFM News that no foul play was suspected and that an inquest docket had been opened.

Amm had tragically battled alcohol addiction in recent years and had been in and out of rehab.

Former Proteas and EP captain Kepler Wessels remembers Amm fondly as a prolific run-scorer at the height of his powers.

Wessels captained Amm when EP famously won the then cricket Currie Cup in 1989 when they beat Transvaal in the final.
