Perfect day for Blitzbokke at SA Sevens in Nelson Mandela Bay

Final Score: South Africa 17 Australia 7
South Africa went into their final Pool A match on day one of the Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay sevens against Australia chasing the win to make it three out of three after earlier beating Samoa and France.
PE playmaker Cecil Afrika opened the scoring mid way through the first half but the Australians hit back with a converted intercept try. Just before half time, Chris Dry muscled his way over and Afrika converted for the Blitzbokke to lead 12-7 at half time. Afrika’s knee is a big worry, he literally scored on one leg! Hardly surprising that he did not start the second half but he again made a massive impact in the seven minutes he did play.
Frankie Horn you beauty! A great build up early in the second half and the captain scores South Africa’s third try to stretch the lead to 17-7 with 5 minutes to play.  That’s how it stayed and the Blitzbokke’s perfect day was matched only by Portugal who also won three out of three in Pool D. South Africa is rewarded handsomely for finishing top of Group because it means a Cup quarter final on Sunday against the USA who were runner up to Portugal in Group D. That quarterfinal between South Africa and the USA will be at 12h39 tomorrow. The crowd lifted the roof when the Blitzbokke played today – only question mark is around Cecil Afrika and whether he will be able to play tomorrow because that knee was not looking good at all.

South Africa earlier beat Samoa 29-7 and France 12-5. Well played boys!
