Port Elizabeth long-distance swimmer Kyle Main has conquered the straights of Gibraltar in record time.
Main tweeted that he swam the crossing from Europe to Africa yesterday in 3 hours in choppy, tough conditions with strong currents.
Main would have swum anywhere between 22 and 25 kilometres to complete the crossing because of the currents - and says he was happy to have been able to maintain a straight line. .
His time is believed to be the fastest by a swimmer from the African continent - with only some 500 swimmers in total having completed the swim.
