PE gears up for Nissan World Cup qualifier

South Africa's top show-jumpers have started arriving in Port Elizabeth for four-days of competition at the PE riding club in Lorraine.
The action gets underway on Thursday morning 14 November and entry is free - and it culminates in the Nissan World Cup qualifier on Sunday afternoon.
With Jade Hooke in the UK, chasing her Olympic dream, the Eastern Cape's hopes rest with Grahamstown-based Carey Pohl.
Barry and Lorette Taylor and Dominey Alexander are always a force to be reckoned with and young Cape Town rider Liam Stevens is back as the defending champion.
The organisers have secured the services of former World Champion and Olympic Bronze medallist Frederic Cottier - whose in South Africa for the first time as the official course designer.
The Frenchman is the head course designer for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy next year.
He says the way he sets up his courses over the next four days will depend very much on the form shown by the South African riders.

"In fact I want to be quite progressive because I don't know the riders and I don't know the horses," he told AlgoaFM sport. "The first day on Thursday I will be quite easy on the competitors and horses, just to get an idea of the level they're at. The plan is to get progressively more difficult as we build up to the grand prix and world cup qualifier events on Sunday."
