New assistant coach for Chevrolet Warriors


The Chevrolet Warriors have appointed Malibongwe Maketa as Assistant Coach to replace Adrian Birrell who has left to join the national team.

Maketa has been with the Titans and Northens since 2006 and will make his move to Port Elizabeth this week. He attended Dale College and studied at Border Technikon making his debut for Border Cricket in 2001. He holds a Level 3 Coaching certificate from Cricket South Africa and is currently completing his Level 4.

“We are very happy to have Malibongwe on board, he brings with him a wealth of cricket knowledge and will add value with his insight and strong work ethic” said coach Piet Botha.

The Chevrolet Warriors are currently in their pre-season training and look forward to having Malibongwe as part of the team going into the 2013/14 season.

Malibongwe is happy to be returning to his home province and joining the Warriors, “This is an exciting time to be involved in cricket and I hope that my 13 years of experience at various levels will add value to the team”.
