The 8th edition of the 2012 Spec-Savers Ironman will take place in Nelson Mandela Bay on Sunday the 22nd of April.
The Ironman weekend features four events over three days with nearly 6000 athletes altogether.
The weekend kicks off with the Iron Girl South Africa Fun Run on the Friday followed by the Vodacom Corporate Triathlon Challenge powered by Algoa FM and the Pritt IronKids on the Saturday.
And then on Sunday... the main event : the Spec-Savers IRONMAN South Africa.
Media Liaison Michael Flanagan says the event just gets bigger and bigger...
"We are actually up on last year we are currently 1,777 athletes which is an improvement from last year and we are very excited about that. We have also seen an increase of around 37.8% first time athletes which is also a plus" Flanagan said.
