Day two of the SA National Swimming Championships in Port Elizabeth was cancelled this morning because of murky water conditions at the Newton Park Swimming Pool.
Officials have been working frantically to improve the clarity of the water after a water-pump burst on Sunday, resulting in the pool turning a murky green.
The water was a lot clearer when the warm-ups began this morning but it soon became murky again, forcing officials to call the event off until tomorrow.
It means that tonight's finals, featuring the likes of Chad le Clos, will not take place.
Despite the cancellation of today's events, SA Swimming coach Graham Hill is happy with the form show by Le Clos, Cameron van der Burgh and Roland Schoeman on the first day of competiion yesterday.
He's confident they will deliver on the qualifying times required for the World Championships in Barcelona in July.
