Morocco has been thrown out of the 2015 African Cup of Nations and stripped of its hosting rights after refusing to commit to the scheduled dates early next year because of fears over Ebola.
The Confederation of African Football CAF says the tournament will now be hosted by another country. It didn't announce which one, but said it had received "some applications" to replace Morocco for the January 17 to February 8 African showpiece.
CAF also announced on Tuesday that the national team of Morocco is automatically disqualified because of its refusal to host.
South Africa, Egypt, Sudan and Ghana have all indicated they are unwilling to replace Morocco, partly because of Ebola.
Nigeria and Angola have also been mentioned as possible stand-in hosts.
Meanwhile:
Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba says he's unimpressed with Sweden-based forward May Mahlangu withdrawing from the squad due to fatigue. He says he'll certainly be taking the matter further as its unacceptable for players not to want to represent their country.
Another midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi is also not with the squad after failing to recover from a toe injury.
South Africa play Sudan in Durban on Saturday, before facing Nigeria in Uyo next week.
Both matches serve as qualifiers for next year's Africa Cup of Nations, which Bafana will qualify for should they win
against the Sudanese and Group A rivals Congo lose to the Nigerians.
