The SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee needs R400m to prepare athletes for the next Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Sascoc GM Ezera Shabangu said in Parliament on Tuesday that funding was needed to establish a training centre in Europe so that athletes could be competitive internationally.
They need to be based in Europe to allow them to take part on the European circuit.
Sascoc president Gideon Sam said a provisional squad for the 2016 games would be announced at the end of October.
