McGregor wins Day 1 of Hansa Fish River Canoe Marathon

Double World Champion Hank McGregor won Day One of the Hansa Fish River Canoe Marathon on Friday in a time of 2hrs:54:24
In second place was Andy Birkett who came in at 2hrs:55:10.
Third was Cradock local, Greg Louw (2hrs58:08) who sneaked ahead of Jasper Mocke (2hrs:58:08)
Grant van der Walt finished in fifth place (2hrs:59:16)
First home for the women was Abby Adie in a time of 3hrs:18:33. In second place was defending champion Michele Eray in a time of 3hrs:19:02 while Jenna Ward came in third in 3hrs:24:56.
In the SA K-3 title race, Jean Luc Mauvis, Nic Burden and Adam Nisbet came in first in a time of 2hrs:58:04
In second place and some way off the leaders, was the team of Kelvin Zeelie; Luke McNish and Scott Johnson who finished in 3hrs:03:09
The second and final day on Saturday is over 36km's from Knutsford to the finish at Cradock.
