Madibaz hockey goalkeeper Kamva Dyakala has realised a cherished dream following his selection for South Africa's senior team.
The 22-year-old, who has already played for the SA U21s, says it's always been a dream to play for his country in the biggest competitions.
In a statement, the third-year inventory management student said that he learned last month about his selection for the national team to take part in the African Games.
"I didn't want to believe it at first, so I just continued training and working on my game because things can change quickly and I didn't want to get my hopes up.
"Then, when the squad was released, to see my name among the top players in the country was unbelievable. It's a feeling I can't explain, to be honest," Dyakala said.
He also said that his mom was also overjoyed when he broke the news to her.
"We were both so happy. As soon as I got home, I was jumping around and she was just laughing."
Dyakala will be part of the SA squad taking part in the African Games in Ghana which starts on 8 March.
The 13th African Games will be the second time in history that the games will be decentralised, as three cities in the host country will host the event.
The three cities chosen for these functions are Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast.
