Lords beckons for PE's Marizanne Kapp

Proteas' women’s all-rounder, Marizanne Kapp of Port Elizabeth, will play at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London for the first time when she represents the Rest of the World team in an exhibition match against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Women on the 19th of May.

The match will form part of the celebrations for the ground’s bicentenary.

The women’s Rest of the World team, which has been assembled for the first time, was selected in association with the International Cricket Council’s women’s committee.

24-year old Kapp made her debut for South Africa's national women's cricket team in 2009 and was named their player of the year for last season, for which she was also honoured as a Sport Elizabeth homegrown hero of the month.

She said it was a very exciting opportunity and is looking forward to stepping onto the hallowed turf of Lords for the first time.
