The annual Legends Marathon will take a massive leap on its third edition in Buffalo City on the 3rd of October this year.
Speaking at a press conference in East London on Thursday, the marathon's project manager Meta Scott said they had finally been accredited by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
She said they would be listed in the association's calendar of events, and this would attract elite international runners and boost tourism.
Scott added that it would still remain the qualifying race for both the Comrades and the Two Oceans Marathon.
"Of course with the large amount of monies, as you know we have over R1000 000 between the two races, it's vital that we do drug testing. Unfortunately it's part of life, it's a modern way of life, sports people do take drugs and we have to try and avoid that." said Scott.
