Kyle Brown to lead SA Sevens to Moscow

A fit-again Kyle Brown will lead the Springbok Sevens team in Moscow next weekend in the IRB Sevens Rugby World Cup.

Brown is one of three survivors of the team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2009 tournament in Dubai.
The others are Ryno Benjamin and Philip Snyman.

SARU Sevens contracted regulars Cecil Afrika, Branco du Preez,  Stephan Dippenaar, Chris Dry, Seabelo Senatla and Cornal Hendricks are also included.

Coach Paul Treu has drafted in Sampie Mastriet,  Cheslin Kolbe and Sibusiso Sithole from the Vodacom Super Rugby franchises.

Meanwhile: Springbok Women's Sevens coach Denver Wannies has named an experienced squad for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow on June 29 and 30 in the hope of improving on their 2009 World Cup semifinal appearance.

The squad features seven players who participated in the 2009 spectacle in Dubai, including inspirational captain Mandisa Williams - a development officer at Border Rugby in East London.
Fellow Border player Fundiswa Plaatjie is also in the team.

The Eastern Province members of the team are Lorinda Brown, Nomathamsanqa Faleni,  Phumeza Gadu and Zenay Jordaan.

South Western Districts is represented by Mathrin Simmers.

The Springbok Women will face Ireland, China and defending champions Australia on the opening day's play next Saturday.
