King Kallis retires from International cricket

The captains of the South African one-day international and Test squads, AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla, have led the tributes to Jacques Kallis, who announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday.

De Villiers said Kallis' experience would be missed in the Proteas' environment, along with the professionalism and humility with which he went about his game.

Amla said Kallis left a great legacy that many young cricketers could follow.

Proteas coach Russell Domingo thanked Kallis for his unwavering service and dedication to South African cricket.

Although the 38-year old has drawn the curtain on his career for South Africa, he said he would still play in Twenty20 franchise cricket.

Kallis said he had a two-year contract with the Sydney Thunder and, if possible, would help the Kolkata Knight Riders defend the IPL title they won earlier this year.
