South African wheelchair tennis star Kgothatso Montjane bagged her first doubles victory at Wimbledon this year.
Montjane and Yui Kamiji from Japan came out tops after winning 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets against the Dutch duo Diede de Groot and Jiske Griffioen at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Sunday evening.
This victory is sweet after Montjane and Kamiji were runners-up in last year's tournament.
Newly appointed Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie says the nation is proud of Montjane and what she and her partner achieved.
"I hope other young players take great inspiration from your success, both in the wheelchair discipline and the sport as a whole," says McKenzie.
South Africans have also taken to social media to express their excitement and pride for Montjane.
