Kevin Anderson out of French Open

Spanish fifth seed David Ferrer reached his 10th successive Grand Slam quarter-final on Monday  when he beat South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the 4th round of the French Open at Rolan Garros.

Ferrer prevailed in four sets - 6-3, 6-3, 6-7 (5/7), 6-1.

He will now meet defending champion Rafael Nadal in the last eight.
Ferrer lost to Nadal in last year's final.

Eight time champion Nadal barely raised a sweat in his last 16 match-up, brushing aside Serbia's Dusan Lajovic 6 1 6 2 6 1.

In ladies action, Andrea Petkovic reached a grand slam quarterfinal for the first time in three years with a 1-6 6-2 7-5 win over Dutch qualifier Kiki Bertens.
