Port Elizabeth showjumping ace Jade Hooke finished a highly credible 3rd in the 4-star rated Hickstead Derby in England on Sunday.
The Hickstead is regarded as the flag-ship Derby on the planet and Jade was up against the leading showjumpers in the world - including a number of Olympic riders.
Out of a field of 36 horses, Trevor Breen of Ireland won in a jump off against last year's champion Philip Miller - after they both conceded four faults.
Jade was alone in third on 8 faults on her 17-year old horse A New Era - on which she won both her SA Derby titles.
She says she's a step closer now to riding in the Olympics, but that her next target is the World Equestrian games in France in two month's time.
