Good start for PE professionals at Jo'burg Open

Eight-under par rounds of 63 from South Africa’s Richard Sterne and Germany’s Maximilian Kieffer at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club’s West course were enough to seize a one-stroke lead after day one of the Joburg Open.

Durban-born Bryce Easton is in third after a 65 and there are six players on 6 under par - including Jake Redman from the Southern Cape.

Charl Schwartzel shot 4-under 68 and defending champion Branden Grace even par 72.

A three under 69 for PE's Lyle Rowe on the tougher east course and he plays the easier West course today.

Titch Moore opened with a 2-under 69 on the West and plays the east today.
