Gary Kirsten has opted not to renew is contract with Cricket SA, and will now finish as head coach of the Proteas at the end of July.
Kirsten was appointed from the beginning of August 2011 for a two-year period, with an option to renew it for a further two years. His contract required him to inform the Board by April 30 this year whether he wished to exercise that option.
He has informed the Board that he will not be renewing his contract for family reasons.
CSA president and Board chairperson, Chris Nenzani says with the Proteas due to tour Sri Lanka in July and August, and important home series coming up against India and Australia next season, it is important that they move quickly to identify a successor.
Kirsten's final assignment for the Proteas will be next month's ICC Champions Trophy in the UK.
