Frustration for EP Kings

DHL Western Province this weekend remained the only unbeaten team in the Absa Currie Cup Premier Division following an exciting fourth round, which saw the Steval Pumas claim their second big scalp.

The Nelspruit team recorded a shock 32-22 bonus-point victory against the Cell C Sharks, which ended the Durban team's three match winning run.

Griquas went down 36-25 to the Cheetahs in Kimberley while log-leaders DHL Western Province registered a narrow 23-18 victory against the Vodacom Blue Bulls at Loftus.

The Xerox Golden Lions, registered their third bonus-point victory of the season as they beat the EP Kings 41-22 in Port Elizabeth - although the Kings had led 22-21 at half time.

A frustrated Kings coach Carlos Spencer said he did not want to take anything away from the Lions but he did not believe his team was 20 points worse than them.

He said they'll go back to the drawing board and work on the things they need to ahead of their next game against Western Province.

Meanwhile:  The Absa Currie Cup First Division competition has been thrown wide open with four rounds of pool matches remaining after SWD ended the Leopards' winning streak with a 29-21 at Outeniqua Park in George.

It reduced the Potchefstroom team's lead on the log to only four points.

In the other matches, the Border Bulldogs registered their first victory of the season as they defeated the Valke 19-14 in East London and the Griffons continued to make their presence felt with a 27-19 victory against the Boland Cavaliers in Wellington.
