Four killed in Karoo road smash

Four people were killed when a mini-bus taxi overturned on the R61 between Cradock and Graff-Reinet just before 6 o'clock on Saturday morning.

14 other people were admitted to the Cradock hospital with various injuries.

The road was briefly closed but has since been re-opened to traffic.

Cradock police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Elmarie van Eck says two men and two women died in the crash.
One of the fatalities was the driver of the taxi.

Van Eck says a burst rear tyre could have been the cause of the crash.
