The Proteas arrive in East London on Monday for the Third Momentum ODI at Buffalo Park on a high after a record breaking victory over the West Indies at the Wanderers yesterday
Captain AB de Villiers became the new record holder for the fastest ODI century, smashing 104 off 31 balls to eclipse the record set last year by New Zealand's Corey Anderson, also agaisnt the Windies.
The Proteas also posted the second highest total ever in ODIs with 439 for two in their 50 overs, and the West Indies could only manage 291 for seven in their reply.
De Villiers came in at three after openers Rilee Rossouw and Hashim Amla had put on the highest ever opening partnership for South Africa in the format with 247 from 235 balls for the first
wicket.
Amla ended unbeaten on 153 from 142 balls, with 14 fours in his innings while Rossouw scored his maiden ODI ton before he departed for 128 from 115 balls.
De Villiers said after his record-breaking innings that he has actually struck the ball a lot sweeter before.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Warriors saw off two determined fightbacks from the Nashua Cape Cobras on the final day at St. George’s Park to win an epic Sunfoil Series encounter .
The Warriors won by 16 runs.
