EP Rugby head coach Dumisani Mani has named a 36-player squad to begin preparations for the new 1st Division Currie Cup season.
The EP Elephants will host neighbours Border to kick off their campaign on Saturday the 26th of March.
There are 15 new players in the squad, including former Border captain Billy Dutton, former Southern Kings flanker Stefan Williemse and Athi Mayinje from the Griffons.
Speaking at the squad announcement at City Hall on Monday, coach Mhani said the team was targeting promotion to the Currie Cup top flight come November.
"Selecting this squad has been a difficult task but we have got plenty of good young players coming through as well as several more experienced campaigners in the group."
Mhani said they'd be focusing on getting their key fundamentals right and developing back the culture in the team in their quest to earn promotion to the Premier Currie Cup in 2022/23.
Following the Border game, the EP Elephants will play the visiting Georgia international side on the 2nd of April. Other home games will include the Griffons, Zimbabwe and the Valke.
Away matches for the EP Elephants will be the Leopards in Potchefstroom, SWD in George, Kenya in Cape Town and Boland in Paarl.
