World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic made history on Sunday when he beat Italian Matteo Berrettini in four sets for his sixth Wimbledon Title.
The Serbian top-seed beat the 7th seed Berrettini 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 to join great rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal on 20 Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic dropped to his haunches and picked out a piece of the famed Centre Court turf to nibble on, in what has become a trademark celebration, moments after winning the grass court Grand Slam on his third match point.
In his victory speech in front of a packed Centre Court crowd, Djokovic paid tribute to Federer and Nadal for inspiring him to reach the heights that he has, but warned that he had had no intention of slowing down any time soon.
Such was his dominance on the grass courts of Wimbledon that Novak dropped just two sets the entire tournament.
Djokovic has now won all three Grand Slams so far this year in the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon and said he would be going all-out to achieve the calendar Grand Slam at the US Open at the end of August.
History was also made on Saturday when women’s world number one Ashleigh Barty won her first Wimbledon title with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 win over Karolina Pliskova.
Barty won on the 50th anniversary of fellow indigenous Australian Evonne Goolagong Cawley's maiden crown.
