The Eastern Province Rugby Union has announced the appointment of former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers as the new head coach of the EP Mighty Elephants.
EPRU General Manager Thando Manana says De Villiers brings a wealth of experience to EP rugby, having coached from junior level to Springbok level in a coaching career spanning more than 20 years.
De Villiers said in turn that he was delighted to reunite with Eastern Province Rugby and be given the opportunity to return the EP Elephants to their former glory.
63-year-old De Villiers said he’s confident that the Union will reach its goals with the support of all rugby stakeholders in the province.
His immediate tasks include making the EP Elephants competitive in the 2021 SA Cup and Currie Cup and rebuilding the playing and coaching structures in the province.
Ryan Felix is the new head coach of the EP u20 team.
