Dean Elgar scored a fifty and then took an four wickets to lead the Knights to a six-run victory over the Chevrolet Warriors in a low-scoring Ram Slam T20 Challenge fixture at Axxess St George's last night.
Defending a meagre 114 runs, the Knights held the Warriors to a score of 108 for 7.
The Warriors looked comfortable in their run-chase at 78 for two in the 15th over - but Elgar then dismissed Davy Jacobs for 30, Samit Patel (6), Adrian McLaren (0) and Ashwell Prince (37) to complete his best return in this format of the game.
The part time spinner finished with four for 23 from his four overs.
Both sides have three matches remaining and will now be in an intriguing race for second spot.
Meanwhile: A career-best four wickets from Calvin Savage helped the Dolphins keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the RAM Slam T20 Challenge play-offs with a 22-run victory over the Cape Cobras at Kingsmead in Durban.
