CSA salutes SA u-19s

CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA has  congratulated the Coca-Cola South Africa squad on their superb victory over Australia in the semi-final of the ICC under-19 Cricket World Cup in Dubai. They now face Pakistan in the Final on Saturday.

“To beat Australia by such a convincing margin of 80 runs at any level of competition is an outstanding achievement,” commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat. “But to do it in a World Cup semi-final is something special.

“The team has played superbly throughout this tournament and it has been heart-warming to see how they have grown in confidence with so many different players contributing to their success.

“We saw it again on Wednesday with two dominant partnerships up front followed by an excellent bowling and fielding effort. Coach Jennings and the management team deserves full praise.

“On behalf of the South African cricket family and the whole nation we wish them all the best for Saturday’s Final. It has been a very good week for South African cricket and we look forward to enjoying more good times over the coming weekend!

“Following two previous finals, we wish them all the luck,” concluded Lorgat.

The team reached the 2002 U-19 CWC final when captained by Hashim Amla and again in 2008 when the team was led by Wayne Parnell.
