CSA hails SA performance at cricket world cup

South African cricket authorities expressed “pride and gratitude” to the Proteas for a remarkable journey and performance at the World Cup in India.

The Proteas exited the tournament on Thursday after going down to Australia by three wickets, having made the semi-finals of the tournament five times.

Cricket South Africa said in a statement on Friday said although the result went against the, the the determination, skill, and spirit displayed by the team throughout the tournament has been exemplary.

CSA also congratulated Australia for their semi-final victory and India for hosting the event.

“The Proteas' performance was commendable, reflecting the exacting standards and competitiveness that epitomises the spirit of international cricket,” said Director of Cricket, Enoch Nkwe.

“As we reflect on the tournament, CSA is inspired by the dedication and teamwork shown by the entire team and the support staff.

“Their journey to the semi-finals has not only been a testament to their talent and hard work but also to their commitment to representing South Africa with honour and pride on the global stage,” Nkwe said.

He said CSA remained committed to supporting the team in its continuous pursuit of excellence and was looking forward to future endeavours with optimism and enthusiasm.
