The World Surf League (WSL) Africa and Accelerate Sport have announced the cancellation of the City Surf Series scheduled to start in October.
Organisers Accelerate Sport say that with the current lockdown restrictions in South Africa, the decision was made with the safety of the athletes and public in mind.
The City Surf Series would have hosted WSL Qualifying Series (QS) events in South Africa, with surfers competing in Port Alfred, Nelson Mandela Bay, George, Richards Bay and Cape Town.
Accelerate Sport says in a statement that it will work together with the WSL and Surfing South Africa (SSA) to reschedule the series for 2022.
