Chippa United up to 3rd on PSL table

There was end to end action at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday night as the home team Chippa United scored in stoppage time to grab a 2-2 draw with Mpumalanga Black Aces in the Absa Premiership.

Chippa moved to third place on the log with 21 points and Aces are in 8th position.

The Chilli Boys hosted the visitors buoyed by the fact that three of their players – David Zulu, Thami Sangweni and Chris Komane - starred in Bafana Bafana’s 2-0 win over Ivory Coast on the weekend.

In Wednesday's other results, Kaizer Chiefs recorded their tenth win after beating Bidvest Wits 3-0, to cement their place at the top of the table on 33 points.

Mamelodi Sundowns moved to fifth place following a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over a 10-man SuperSport United outfit, and Moroka Swallows failed to bag the three points on offer when they played to a 1-1 draw against Ajax Cape Town. Ajax are second on 22 points, one-point ahead of Chippa United.

Polokwane City continued their fine recent form, with a 2-1 Absa Premiership win over Platinum Stars, while Free State Stars claimed provincial bragging rights, as they defeated Bloemfontein Celtic 1-0.

In the Barclays Premier League, Chelsea maintained their lead at the top and extended their dominance over Tottenham with a 3-0 win against their London rivals, while Manchester City ended a six-year wait for a Premier League win at Sunderland with an impressive 4-1 victory.

Arsenal edged Premier League top-four rivals Southampton 1-0 and Everton played to a 1-1 draw against Hull.
