The Springboks will return to the training ground on Sunday as they prepare for an epic world cup quarter-final clash against Rugby World Cup tournament hosts, France.
The squad enjoyed a rest day on Saturday with an eye on the clash between Ireland and Scotland, which the World Number One team comprehensively won 36-14 at Stade de France.
The Irish win saw them top Pool B on 19 points, with South Africa in second place on 15 points, and will face the All Blacks in the last 16 rounds.
The last match of the pool will see Tonga play Romania on Sunday.
Meanwhile, former Emirates Lions Captain John Strauss believes the Boks clash against France will probably be the game of the World Cup.
“France is a brilliant side, at home, which is a big boost for them. But South Africa is the one team that can beat anyone because of their physicality,” he said.
“I think we can do it on the day,” said Strauss, who was speaking as an in-studio pundit on Supersport.
One player chomping at the bit to get back into action is Centre, Lukhanyo Am, who returned to the team as an injury replacement for Makazole Mapimpi, who returned home after the win against Tonga.
“It’s special to be part of this group. It was frustrating being injured and to have to follow the World Cup from home. It was though something you love is taken away from you,” he said in a weekend statement.
Am said he was working hard and was “very fortunate to have been called up to the squad”.
The Springboks face France in Paris at 9 pm on Sunday, 15 October.
