The Chairman of the Southern Kings, Loyiso Dotwana, has distanced himself from a public rant on Facebook by fellow board member Bantwini Matika.
Dotwana says in a statement issued by the Kings on Friday morning that the series of Facebook posts from Matika earlier this week are unacceptable and do not represent the views or position of the Board of the ISUZU Southern Kings.
Dotwana said they've already initiated a process to deal internally with what he describes as an unfortunate incident.
In his hard-hitting comments on Facebook, Matika brands Nick Mallet a racist and says the former Bok mentor is not suitable to help the Kings look for a new coach to replace the recently departed Deon Davids.
Matika further states that he is not going to collapse and die because of institutional racism in Rugby and that the worst that can happen is that he gets booted out.
Dotwana says they believe that Mallet has the right expertise to assist the Kings in selecting a coach who will help build a professional and competitive rugby team for the future.
He adds that The Kings are the first black-owned rugby franchise in South Africa and, as such, are fully committed to the transformation of the sport in the country.
