Hunter Mahan beat Rory McIlroy 2 and 1 yesterday to win the World Golf Championships Match Play crown in the Arizona desert, denying the Northern Irishman's bid to claim the world number one ranking.
Mahan moved 4 up through 10 holes then held off the reigning US Open champion to become the first American to win the title since Tiger Woods in 2008.
In the consolation final, Mark Wilson bounced back to beat Lee Westwood 1 up.
Here at home, Keith Horne closed with a 69 for a 72-hole total of 19-under par and a three shot win over Alex Haindl, Jaco Alhers and Darren Fichardt in the Telkom PGA Championship at Country Club Johannesburg.
