Jomo Cosmos beat Platinum Stars 4-3 after a penalty shoot-out in Daveyton yesterday to book a berth in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals.
Stars striker Patrick Malokase opened matters in additional time with an inch-perfect 97th minute free-kick, with El-Hadji Samb equalising for Cosmos in the last minute of extra-time.
In the shootout, Cosmos netted all four of their kicks to book their spot in the last eight.
In Kimberley - Ashly Hartog’s first half strike saw 10-man SuperSport United beat United FC to also progress to the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup.
And in the Vodacom League - Nelson Mandela Bay's Bay Stars overpowered Champions FC 3-1 at the Gelvandale Stadium at the weekend.
All other games were rained out - which means that FC Tornado from East London are still two points clear at the top of the table - with that game in hand.
