Threatening rain clouds could not stop another Bay Stars rampage.
When Nelson Mandela Bay’s best hope of future Premier Soccer League (PSL) participation, Bay Stars, took to the field on Friday night not even a few threatening rain clouds could stop them from going on another rampage.
Bay Stars Coach Graham Harrison said the sterling performance was a concerted effort to make up for the disappointing last minute loss against OR Tambo the previous weekend.
“Although the boys were down, we collectively decided to lift our heads up and to come back with a much better performance in the match against Kokstad Liverpool,” he added.
John Giannakis lifted the spirits of the hundreds of fans by scoring an excellent header after a nice build up by the team in the 12th minute.
In the 28th minute Leroy van Rensburg showed his class when he finished off a cross after yet another concerted team build-up.
The happy fans and the visitors probably did not notice the disappearing rain clouds before Wayde Jooste added to the tally when he scored another goal before the halftime whistle sounded.
Nkosinathi Speelman managed to score an excellent long distance goal that saw the home side comfortably leading with 4 – 0. Kokstad Liverpool managed to redeem themselves with a last minute goal to make the score line more respectable at 4 – 1.
FC Tornado of East London drew against Tembu Royals which means that Tornado lead Bay Stars by two points at the top of the table.
Next Saturday Bay Stars will be taking on Cacadu United at 15:00 at the Ward 4 Sport Field.
