The Supersport United duo of Bennet Chenene and Innocent Mdledle has been withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad to face Nigeria and Burkina Faso due to hamstring injuries. The players missed their club’s MTN 8 clash against Orlando Pirates on Sunday. Pirates won 4-3 to advance to the semi-finals.
Amazulu defender Marc van Heerden has been called up as replacement for Mdledle at left back, while there will be no one coming in the place of Chenene as Bafana Bafana head coach Gordon Igesund believes he has enough cover in the department.
Van Heerden will meet up with Bafana Bafana when they land in Durban on Monday, 12 August.
