AB slams Proteas performance

The Proteas will have to pick themselves up from the 130 run defeat against India for Friday’s third World Cup clash against the West Indies.

India outplayed the Proteas with the bat and the ball to record their third biggest winning margin against South Africa.

After Proteas captain AB De Villiers pulled off a brilliant direct throw from extra cover to dismiss Rohit Sharma, Man of the Match, Shikhar Dhawan, who smashed 137 off 146 balls and Virat Kohli (46 off 60) put on 127 for the second wicket.

Shikhar and Ajinkya Rahane, who made 79 runs, added a further 125 for the third wicket.

The Proteas, needing over 300 runs to win, lost eight wickets for 69 runs.

Faf du Plessis, with 55, top scored for the Proteas who finished on 177 all out with almost ten overs to spare.

De Villiers slated the Proteas performance as “unacceptable.”
