Wheelchairs at the ready – the residents of the Summerstrand Cheshire Home are excited about taking part in the Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer on the 26th October 2019. Cheshire Home will be selling muffins at the end of the walk to raise funds for their residents. The home provides a homely atmosphere for people who have various disabilities.
“The biggest challenge we face is the cost of wheelchair batteries and parts (mobility and independence promoting dignity and self-esteem), nappy expenses, and a much-needed nurse bell system for our ablution facilities,” says Cheshire Home manager Deidre Burger.
“Funds that we raise at the Big Walk for Cancer will be utilised for these vital elements of our home,” she says.
