Algoa FM sponsored the George Business Chamber’s networking evening with the aim of promoting economic growth in all areas of George.
This event was hosted by the chamber on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Thusong Hall in Thembalethu.
“We are ecstatic about the outcome of the evening as more than 200 key and emerging business people in George attended the function with great enthusiasm and excitement to meet our team. There is no doubt that this event sparked the possibility of close business ties and mutually beneficial relationships” says Dave Tiltmann, Managing Director of Algoa FM.
Algoa FM expanded into the Garden Route area in December 2011, and has become an active corporate citizen in the region through its support for both growing and emerging markets within the Garden Route.
“The main aim of the event was to create a platform where business people from all sectors and areas can meet and have the opportunity to enhance and identify economic growth opportunities for the overall economy of George, the Garden Route and, ultimately, the country”, says Ingrid Cronje Manager of the George Business Chamber.
Taking this networking event to Thembalethu was an important benchmark as existing members of the Business Chamber was exposed to business in Thembalethu and vice-versa and it demonstrates the George Business Chamber’s commitment to economic empowerment in the region, says Cronje.
“With our recent expansion into the Garden Route, we are proud to support and be part of an event that bridges the gap between the suburban and township markets where ideas and resources could be shared and networks developed”, says Tiltmann.
The Chamber works closely with Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) whose mission is to develop young entrepreneurs and small enterprises throughout the country and develop them into fully fledged businesses and enterprises which can compete on a global level.
To end off the evening on a high note Tiltmann announced the winner of R10, 000 Algoa FM airtime. The winner is Deodat Stander of Buzzbus, a daily/weekly scheduled route shuttle and charter service in George.
