New multi party coalition ready to oust ANC-led administration in Bay

A new multi-party coalition planning to remove the ANC-led administration in Nelson Mandela Bay

A new multi-party coalition says it will waste no time in taking steps to remove the current ANC-led administration that governs Nelson Mandela Bay.

The DA, UDM, ACDP, African Independent Congress (AIC), the PAC, FF-Plus, and the Abantu Integrity Movement (AIM) signed a coalition agreement on Thursday in the hopes to take the city forward.

The coalition says it will now start working on a petition for a council meeting to convene.

This petition will need 61 signatures from councillors, meaning that the coalition, which has 56 seats in the council, will need to rally other parties.

The EFF is not part of this new coalition but indicated previously that it would support any party that wants to remove the ANC from power in Nelson Mandela Bay.

DA leader, John Steenhuisen, says the various political leaders will now start preparing the petition.

The DA has put Retief Odendaal as the mayoral candidate, while AIM's Mkhuseli Jack will be deputy mayor.
