The newly formed political party, Action SA, has announced that Nelson Mandela Bay is one of the municipalities it is officially considering contesting in the upcoming 2021 local government elections.
The party, led by former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba, made the announced on social media on Monday.
In a series of Tweets, Action SA said it was responding to a growing call for the party to contest more municipalities.
Other municipalities considered include Cape Town, eThekwini and Mangaung.
Meanwhile, the IEC rejected the party’s registration application last month based on a perceived similarity to another political party.
IEC also had an issue with the party’s logo resembling the South African flag.
Mashaba has written to the IEC to appeal the decision.
