ANC heavyweight, Andile Lungisa has been replaced as a PR councillor in Nelson Mandela Bay.
Wandisile Jikeka was sworn in as a councillor at the Speaker’s office on Friday morning.
This move comes after Lungisa handed himself over to authorities last month to begin serving his two- year jail sentence for assault.
Lungisa has opted to stay in jail despite an extension of his bail by the Grahamstown High Court pending his fresh bid for freedom in the Constitutional Court.
Regional Task Team Co-ordinator Luyolo Nqakula says Jikeka has vast experience in local government and he also served as a mayoral committee member under former mayor, Zanoxolo Wayile’s administration.
